Early runs enough as Colorado Springs hangs on to beat Storm Chasers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs made three second-inning runs stand up as the Sky Sox edged the Omaha Storm Chasers 3-2 on Saturday.

Colorado Springs got a two-run single from Nate Orf to take a 3-0 lead. Omaha answered with a run in the third as Hunter Dozier’s double bought home Ramon Torres. The Chasers pulled within 3-2 in the ninth as Billy Burns’ sacrifice fly, which scored Bubba Starling.

Jonathan Dziedzic was tagged with the loss despite going seven innings and allowing three unearned runs. He falls to 0-3 on the season.

Omaha and Colorado Springs complete their five-game series at 2 p.m. Sunday. They have split the first four games.
